Being School Ready Training for Practitioners

Being School ReadyFollowing on from my Assessment Measures Blog in July where I mentioned that we were involved in doing some research with schools about their expectations for children I am glad to report that we have moved the project forward in supporting parents and practitioners in Being School Ready. Our project has involved talking to schools directly, working with parents and providing training for practitioners. We have also created a brand new resource for early years settings and childminders as part of the project. Monica Price has been Project Being School ReadyManaging for us during this time and the whole project is funded by SmartStart, a Warwickshire initiative to promote giving children the best start in life.

School Readiness Program

Our programme of events for Parents got underway last week with a Transitions session by Dr Anita Soni .  Coming up in the next few weeks are a variety of sessions from one run by local storyteller Cat Weatherill another from  IT Software Specialist Roger Young from Kudlian Software and there will be some social and life skills sessions by Dr Matt Stanford.  Monica herself will also deliver a session on her specialist topic, Nutrition and Healthy Eating.

In addition to this we are offering some FREE Practitioner Training Workshops to any settings that act as a feeder early years setting into Warwickshire Schools. The training will include a visit to a local Studley school in order to increase knowledge and develop good relationships. Our first session in on Tuesday 26th September at Millennium House in Studley. If you think you qualify then please do book onto this in the link above.
