CIEH Level 2 Award Food Safety in Catering CIEH Chartered Institute of Environmental Health The CIEH Level 2 Award Food Safety In Catering will benefit anyone working in a catering setting where food is prepared, cooked and served. Everyone who works in catering has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and ensuring that the food they prepare and serve is safe to eat. This qualification underlines the importance of food safety and provides candidates with an understanding of how to identify and control food safety hazards.

It is relevant to all catering operations, for example pubs, hotels, restaurants, fast-food outlets, hospitals, care and nursing homes, nurseries, schools and prisons.

  • How individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety
  • The importance of keeping him/herself clean and hygienic
  • The importance of keeping the work areas clean and hygienic
  • The importance of keeping food safe

Candidates are assessed by an examination paper consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed in one hour under examination conditions.
