Basic Food Hygiene and ideas and techniques for cooking with children

Basic Food HygieneBasic Food Hygiene

Whether you are preparing snacks for break time or just cooking up some biscuits with your children, Basic Food Hygiene cover some essential skills that are an important part of what we do. Not only is it useful to have a basic level of food hygiene among the staff, but it is important to have the children learn these skills correctly at an early age.

This essential Food Hygiene short course will enable teachers to safely prepare and handle food as well as demonstrate these skills to the children. We also include a small amount of time dedicated to ideas and techniques for cooking with children, to make sure that the most learning is going on with the fun! Teachers will be made aware of:

  • Food-borne illnesses, bacteria and prevention techniques.
  • Contamination, spoilage and prevention of food poisoning.
  • Effective hygiene.
  • Food storage, HACCP and the law.
  • Getting the most out of cooking with children.

This Food Hygiene for Early Years course is aimed at all practitioners, whether they prepare snacks, dinners, serve food or cook with the children. It meets all the statutory requirements for these activities without the expense of a full accredited course.
