A practical course in understanding Autism
Date: Thu, 12th Nov 6:30 pm-8:30 pm – Space(s) available 20
Autism can be a challenging condition to deal with, both for the child and practitioners involved. A good understanding of the difficulties that a child with autism faces in their daily life is vital in being able to support them and to help them develop. In Early Years children a diagnosis has not always been given, and being able to spot the traits of an autistic child, and providing the necessary support early in their education, can make a huge difference to the outcomes for the child.
This course will enable practitioners to gain a greater understanding of autism and working with chilren who are on the autistic spectrum. It will also provide a background to enable identification of children who are showing some or all of the traits of autism so they can also be supported.
The content that will be covered is:
- Understanding what autism is.
- Being able to recognise autistic traits in children.
- Understand how to support children with autism.
- Raise awareness of autism in your setting to create an inclusive environment.
This training course would be ideal for any practitioners that already work with autistic children, but would also be of benefit to anyone working with any children. It is delivered by an external trainer who is an ambassador for the charity Autism Puzzles. Find out more of what he does here: AutisticGenius.
