This course is designed to show how to develop a SEND friendly environment to offer high quality support to children with SEND.

This course aims to give a range of practical strategies that can be used to develop the indoors and outdoors so that it supports all children including those with speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, developmental delay, challenging behaviour, autism spectrum, anxiety and physical difficulties. Participants will leave with an environmental audit and set of setting specific ‘easy to use’ ideas and strategies that they can put into place quickly on return to their setting.
This course is for all practitioners wanting to develop their understanding of what makes a high quality environment for all children but particularly those with SEND
This Developing a SEND friendly environment course supports you:
- To understand what makes a high quality ‘SEND friendly’ environment
- To be aware of the impact an early years environment can have on the learning potential of children with SEND
- To understand what we mean by the ‘sensory environment’ and understand how this affects the behaviour and learning of children with SEND
- To be able to audit and make simple changes to the environment to support the individual needs of all children within your setting
