Effective Supervision Training for Early Years Settings
Date: Thu, 12th Feb 10:00 am-12:00 pm – Space(s) available 10
The EYFS Statutory Framework (2014) identifies that supervision should “foster a culture of mutual support, teamwork and continuous improvement, which encourages the confidential discussion of sensitive issues” and requires us to undertake regular supervisions with all staff regardless of their roles and responsibilities. The EYFS (2014) also tells us that “Supervisions should provide opportunities for staff to discuss any issues concerning children’s development or well-being; identify solutions to address issues as they arise; and receive coaching to improve their personal effectiveness” However, in order that supervision is meaningful and effective to benefit both the individual and the setting, practitioners need to be able to facilitate effective communication, understand how to set development goals, and how to handle any safeguarding concerns raised.
This short Effective Supervision Training course will enable Early Years Practitioners to:
- Understand what effective communication is
- Indentify factors that impede and aid communication
- Understand the difference between constructive feedback and positive feedback
- Understand how to deliver feedback to supervisees
This Effective Supervision Training course is aimed at all Early Years practitioners who are responsible for undertaking supervisions and are looking to be more effective. It will examine effective recording methods that provide sufficient evidence for Ofsted at inspection time.
