Risk Assessment for Early Years
Date: Wed, 20th Jan 6:30 pm-8:00 pm – Space(s) 16
Assessing the risks in any setting is an essential part of looking after children. Whilst policies are no longer required under the EYFS the burden of Risk Assessment is high on Ofsted’s agenda and practitioners need to be aware of their responsibilities in relation to risk.
This essential Risk Assessment for Early Years short course will enable early years Practitioners to do better risk assessment and be able:
• To recognise risks and hazards and be able to explain what they are.
• To know what actions they need to take to address specific hazards to ensure children’s safety is maintained.
• To understand their own responsibility in relation to risk and hazards.
• To evaluate different levels of risk by carrying out a risk assessment.
This Risk Assessment for Early Years course is aimed at all practitioners who care for children as the EYFS now states, providers must ‘ensure staff and children in their care are not exposed to risks and must demonstrate how they are managing risks’ (EYFS:2014). It is essential that staff in any setting can provided children with safe and secure environments in which to interact and explore rich and diverse learning and development opportunities.
