Everyday Explorers – Outside

Science in Early Years

This Everyday Explorers – Outside course is designed to bring Science and Maths into Early Years settings

Is the outside space in your setting being used effectively?  Are your children getting the most from the learning opportunities it offers?

In many settings the children venturing outside gives practitioners a feeling of relief as they get a chance to watch the children let off some steam and develop those all important physical skills.  But this misses the point of free flow – the children should still be learning in all areas while they make use of the outdoors.  It can be quick and easy to provide a range of learning opportunities for the children, it just needs a bit of thought before the coats and shoes are being thrown on in the excitement of getting out there!

All our Everyday Explorer courses are designed to bring Science and Maths into Early Years settings. Our skilled trainers will demonstrate how, and importantly why, we should be incorporating it into activities for young children and will show you benefits it can bring. This course is ideal for practitioners who want to make their outside space that little bit more useful for learning, or are just looking for some good practice to use through the summer months.

The Everyday Explorers – Outside Course objectives:

  • Using the outdoors for Science and Maths.
  • Creating a free flowing environment that really works.
  • Organising your outside space to work effectively for learning.
  • Making the most of your loose parts.
  • Getting Green fingers – help practitioners with growing vegetables and using it as a learning experience.
