With the lack of meaningful news stories to report, we took the time to update the downloads area of our website with some new content. It’s proved popular so far, so if you’ve not had a chance to look yet then head on over there now! Never miss out again and keep up with the latest developments as they happen on our blog.
We have had a relatively quiet month around the office, not sure if we have started the summer wind down or whether the heat just meant everyone was taking it easy – Matt certainly made the most of the opportunity.
The rest of the month was taken up with the usual discussions in the office. We particularly enjoyed this news story, and it threw up a debate about why First Aid is not included as part of the national curriculum. This seems like an important thing to learn, but what would get dropped for it to be included? It actually turned into a bit of a row at that point as everyone’s favourite subject was put on the chopping block.
In our ongoing quest to find out just what ‘school ready’ means, we have found that phonics and rhyme are important to schools – more important than being able to read or write in fact – and we should be focusing on developing this with more stories and more rhymes.
With that in mind, we found this fantastic resource – 25 books with a related activity for each and every one. It’s great to see some books beyond the standard selection. We have to admit to a small amount of disgust at the title ‘The Grouchy Ladybug’ though!
