taxWe find it hard to deal with change, like most people we presume, so when they changed the size and price of soft drinks, we had a good moan in the office. The sugar tax may be used to add £26 million to support breakfast clubs though, so that’s something!

But maybe some things should change; NCTs (SATs) in KS1 for example, or the amount of money the Government spends on Early Years. One major thing that we think should change, and we have been working on with three nurseries, is the amount of paperwork that gets in the way of playing with children. We’re not there yet, but we think we are finally close to a solution. When we crack it, you’ll be able to find it on our blog.

inspirational-insights news

We hope you had a nice Easter Holiday, and aren’t too upset being back to work! Ours was busy as we had a training day right in the middle of it.

We always like to get involved in training days as it is a great opportunity to meet staff when they are not tired after being at work all day! We were involved throughout the day, and were even given lunch (gluten-free too); take note if you are thinking of using us to support your own event…

in houe training We regularly get asked if it is more beneficial to have training in house, for a whole staff team, or to send staff on a course with practitioners from other settings. The benefits of having your staff trained together are obvious; you can choose the date and everyone will be learning the same thing. But sometimes the cost of in-house training can be an issue, particularly if you are a small setting.

We have found that when people come together from different settings, they get an excellent opportunity to share ideas. And once you consider the saving of having a staff member share the ideas when they come back to your setting, this type of course has some real advantages.

It’s hard to pick therefore, so why not have the best of both? Get together with some nearby nurseries and share an in-house course. Share ideas (and the cost) with other settings AND get a subject and date that suits your needs!
