Ofsted Big Conversation West Midlands Open Meeting

Ofsted Big ConversationWe’ve had a great time at the Coventry Childcare Expo but there’s no time to stand still as we’re proud to be supporting & exhibiting once again at the Ofsted Big Conversation in Wolverhampton on 13th October.

Have you ever wanted to just ask Ofsted a question, but not had the opportunity outside of the inspection process? Perhaps you’ve heard differing interpretations over aspects of the Statutory Guidance and want something clarified? – or maybe you have a general question over the inspection process? Well this could be just the opportunity you are looking for! This is the third West Midlands open meeting and if you’ve not been to one before then come along for a look, a listen and to get involved.

We’ve been supporting the Ofsted Big Conversation since 2015. We have seen it grow into a vibrant and informative event attended by the Early Years Sector and Ofsted themselves.

Ofsted Big Conversation

The Ofsted Big Conversation runs in various locations across the country and is organised in different ways. Here in the West Midlands Region it is run by a Steering Group of volunteers, who are passionate about ensuring that the sectors voice is heard in the right places, Ofsted attend by invitation, and look forward to the opportunity to engage with the sector. The Steering Group have listened to the feedback from delegates of previous events and so have this year invited an external speaker to the event as well. Tony Wilson, Stroyteller will be there to engage us with his imaginative storytelling skills, as children’s listening skills are an important aspect that Ofsted look for during Inspection. Ofsted will be talking about Maths and seeking our views on their new Online System that is currently under development.

There will be plenty of time for Questions but if you don’t want your question made public then you can even ask questions anonymously ahead of time simply by emailing them to us. We were interested to find out earlier that anyone can go and observe a Scrutiny Panel during their meetings – and did you know you can apply to Ofsted to be part of a Scrutiny Panel in another area? Come along to find out more about all of these things.
